CHINA, NT BUSINESS RELATIONS STILL GOING STRONG

NT News

2020-01-24

The Australia China Business Council,  Northern Territory sub-council, continues to reach out to China to get the NT noticed in the Chinese business and investment community” ACBC NT President Daryl Guppy said.

In 2019 this outreach was achieved through participation in four Belt and Road Initiative roundtables and forums held in China. Specific NT investment opportunities and major projects were highlighted. The objective was to place NT businesses on the map in in China in addition to reconfirming the message that the NT welcomes Chinese engagement at a time when the national message from Australia was less supportive.

The NT and NT business and investment was promoted at Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CPPIT) , ASEAN  and China Council of International Cooperation  trade, investment  and policy forums in China.

“As a member of the national ACBC board the interests of the NT have also been promoted  at a national level,” Guppy said.

ACBC NT signed an MOU with CCPIT Guangzhou which provides a foundation for further targeted engagement from the NT.

ACBC NT also  signed an MOU with Gansu CCPIT and developed a delegation engagement plan to consider the management of preservation of cultural relics and sites in arid environments; Management of arid rangelands; Management of tourism impacts on fragile environments; and Environmental monitoring of remote locations including mining and feral animal impacts. This delegation exchange is on-track for  2020.

ACBC NT continues to provide up-to-date China economic and investment analysis to members with a fortnightly newsletter.

“We encourage all businesses interested in engaging with China to become ACBC members,’ Guppy said.
